The White Squirrel Festival was voted one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events in May 2009, White Squirrel Festival is host to an opening “Memorial Day Parade,” 5K/10K foot race, White Squirrel Photo Contest, white squirrel tours, and plenty of nutty fun for the entire family.
The Annual Squirrel Box Derby is a gravity race that is the only legal opportunity in Brevard where you can try to break the speed limit down Jailhouse Hill! All vehicles are hand built and decorated to please the crowd, as well as designed for speed. Contestants compete for trophies. In addition, businesses fight to win the cherished Golden Nut Trophy!
The Fourth of July Festival activities include: 5K/10K Firecracker Run, Fine Arts & Craft Showcase, All Star Pet Show, Declaration of Independence Reading, Memorial Flag Raising, Classic Automobile Show, Old Time Fair, day-long music, Kids’ Bike Parade, Hot Dog Eating Contest, inflatables, face painting, children’s activities and end the day with the wonderful July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza!
The Twilight Tour is filled with activities of wonderful holiday entertainment at the courthouse gazebo, strolling musicians and Christmas characters, street refreshments and entertainment. Several of the non-profits organizations will provide Santa Elf workshops where children can make gifts for their families. Some of county businesses will have free carriage rides, the annual Christmas parade will begin in the afternoon and the days’ celebration will end with the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the courthouse.
