Bele Chere means “Beautiful living” in an ancient Scottish dialect, and that’s just what nearby Asheville, North Carolina will be celebrating this weekend! What started as a three-block festival over three decades ago is now a city-wide event in Asheville. Always held the last weekend in July, this year’s event holds July 27-29, 2012. The Bele Chere is a three-day street festival – one of the most popular in the Southeast! This free festival features live music all day and night for all festival-goers. It is a wonderful chance to experience the best in Asheville’s food, art, and music firsthand.
Come celebrate with us and experience the rich art heritage of historic Asheville. During the festival, completely surrender yourself to the magic of Asheville as local artists, musicians, artisans and performers entertain you. Visit local galleries and museums, or take in a performance at the theater. Savor a meal at one of Asheville’s many wonderful restaurants. Lose yourself in the stark beauty of it all.
This year’s event offers something for everyone, from a Children’s Area with games and other fun activities centered around the history of Western North Carolina, interactive rides and bounce houses, music performed by local and regional artists on several stages throughout the area, and Arts Park, which features the work of the Best of the Best in Bele Chere artists. Foodies won’t want to miss the Taste of Asheville event in Pack Square. Sample the cuisine of local chefs, including some regional favorites! Vendors will be on hand providing ample food and drink, as well. For more information or to plan your festival activities, visit the official Bele Chere website . See you there!
